SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL COMPETENCES – PREDICTORS OF GIFTED STUDENT

Gifted student are person with a excellence performance those identified with superior intellectual, high-creativity and task commitment, however some school are difficult to find those student because of rigid procedure identification. Purpose of this paper is to make alternative way to find a gifted student with social-emotional competences (SEC) as predictor of academic succeeds. Applying explanatory method, this research involves 798 students of senior high-school. The data was collected from rating scale model questionnaire. The result indicated that the SEC are generalizable valid predictors of academic succeed. however, some lower 90% credibility intervals included 0. Subject Tests tended to be better predictors than the Verbal, Quantitative, and Analytical tests.
