The Profile of UPI Students’ Consciousness of Educational Phenomena (A Phenomenological Study of Paulo Freire Pedagogy)

Abstract- Today the middle technocratic mindset prevails at the college level, the way of thinking of students in solving a problem is suspected tend to be very promote efficiency and mechanistic so consciousness of students drowned in a shallow life orientation. This condition is certainly not in line with the discourse of "mental revolution" declared by the Indonesian government. On the basis of the factual conditions of this study to try to uncover the phenomenon of student consciousness will UPI existence in the world of education through critical consciousness pedagogy (conscientization) applied to subjects Education Platform. This study uses a phenomenological approach, the goal is obtain profiles consciousness of students who represented descriptively. The results of this study are three profiles of UPI student’s consciousness that is magical, naive, and critical consciousness. The long term goal of this research is to obtain a draft wake critical consciousness pedagogy that can be applied to pursue higher education to produce students who are aware of its existence as young people who have the mentality of a strong nation.
